SWIM SCHOOL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q .  How was the Swim HQ philosophy developed?

A . Stimulating environments are critical to promoting a child’s cognitive development.  Science tells us that when a child is safe, supervised and able to discover, explore and problem solve, they’re learning important life skills through encouraged engagement. We’ve used this basic principle as a baseline to engineer a tropical modern facility & guide our curriculum.

Q .  What is SwimEngage?

A .  SwimEngage is our holistic philosophy that builds life skills both in and out of the water using play-based learning in a fun and safe environment.  We’ve taken everything that science says is the ideal way for kids to learn – guided engagement, fun, safe environments and achievements – and packaged it up into one experience.  Through SwimEngage, we’re giving kids exactly what they need to boost cognitive development and critical life skills in and out of the water

Q .  What does SwimEngage have to do with swimming?

A . We’re glad you asked!   Swim HQ has used real research to design our entire swim experience and class curriculum to maximize your child’s learning in and out of the water.  Decades of scientific research tell us that guided engagement is the optimal way for kids to learn, and it provides a strong foundation for intellectual and emotional growth, creativity, problem-solving and academic knowledge.  It’s everything we’re doing at Swim HQ,  so we call it SwimEngage.…because all your child will feel is fun, but we know there’s much more happening under the surface.  Our goal is to celebrate every little dose of achievement.  While your family is focusing on the fun stuff, we’re making sure kids are seriously growing and learning behind the scenes

Q .  How long are the swim sessions?

A .  Swim school sessions are 30 minutes in duration.

Q .  How many students do you have in the pool per session?

A .  We offer small group class sizes (max 3 – 4 students) This ensures that your child receives the attention they deserve.

Q .  How long will it take for my child to learn to swim?

A .  Every child is different and, therefore learns at a different pace. Our swim school approach to this is practice and exposure.

Q .  What if my child cries, should i persist?

A .  It is very common for the little ones to cry at first.  It sometimes takes them a few visits to adapt to the environment, the water and the instructor.  You don’t want to pull them out of swimming lessons because they cry.  This is a lifesaving skill they are learning and it’s critical to let our instructors work with them a few times.  It’s actually much more difficult on the parent than the child.  We take a gentle approach with beginners and they will adapt sooner than you may think.

Q .  Do I need to change classes when my child changes levels?

A .  Our swim school programs tend to progress together. If this is not the case, we will speak to you personally about selecting another swim level more appropriate for your child’s skill.
